| Heirloom Candles is owned by Karen and Hank Schumacher, who also operate a working cattle ranch in the delightful little South Louisiana town of Husser.
Karen started her business in their kitchen, carefully hand-pouring candle oil melted in her best gumbo pot.
Having outgrown their kitchen, the company built a commercial production facility in 2005. Karen often still pours candles, but always ensures Heirloom Candles are produced at her very high standard. They still are carefully poured by hand in the company’s production facility, individually inspected for quality and hand packaged for delivery to your door.
Hank Schumacher is a gentleman rancher, owner of Bald Cypress Cattle Co. in Husser, LA. He raises grass-fed beef cattle and is active in the Louisiana Beef Industry Council, Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS) and Louisiana Farm Bureau. You can find out more about Hank’s life running the ranch by reading his blog.
The Schumachers have 4 children and 10 grandchildren, all of whom live nearby.
“We are so blessed to lead the lives we do,” Karen said. “Surrounded by family, living in God’s country, doing what we love to do. Nobody could have it better.”
